"Tor and Max, the team from Chicago, did an excellent job of carefully padding my furniture pieces with blankets and using cardboard boxes for mirrors and artwork. Among my pieces was a baby grand piano which was an arduous struggle for them, but they managed to carefully pad the various pieces and move the very heavy piece. They were altogether professional and friendly. However, I was disappointed to learn that my truckload of possessions would be somewhere transferred to yet another, larger truck for the move onward to Los Angeles, which increases the chances for damage and lost items. So now I am worried about this new wrinkle in the move and potential for damaged and missing items. Unpakt told me that it would be the same driver that loaded my stuff and same truck that would also unload my stuff at the destination, just the moving crew would be different in the two cities. This turned out to be not true and I did not find that out until the movers arrived on moving day and I asked for confirmation from the driver that he would be the driver that would driveto the destination on the same truck and he said no to both counts. I was also disappointed that they left a mess of their used materials, i.e., empty tape rolls, plastic bands from wardrobe boxes, bits and pieces of cardboard and tape, etc. When I asked about this debris, Tor said they were not supposed to clean up. So I had to get a garbage bag and go around and pick up the mover’s debris from both inside and outside the house. Also, they ran out of moving blankets at the end and simply loaded two large stone outside planter and outside garden bench into the truck “raw,” with no padding or covering whatsoever. When I complained to Tor that the planters would surely get damaged from being jostled about loose in the truck with no protection, h3 said he throw a tarp on them when they returned to their warehouse. But there was still that long drive back to their warehouse when the two large planters would be jostled about in th3 truck. That part I was not happy about."
