"About the company: The company was extremely difficult to work with ahead of the move, they insisted on charging special handling for items that didn't require it and threatened to cancel the move if I didn't agree to it. Note that special handling was advertised as $100/hour extra but when you go onto the platform you need to choose one of 3 flavors of special handling (assembling/disassembling, wooden crate, wall mounting). In my case I needed neither so tried to add one at random to 5 items, the adjusted quoted price was *not* $100 per hour, it totaled up to $1500 additional to the initial amount. Luckily Unpakt stepped in and helped maintain the appointment at the quoted rate and I was only charged the initial rate (without the special handling hidden fees). About the move experience: I had scheduled a move for the 1-3pm window as the elevator at the destination building was booked from 3-5pm. The movers arrived at 2:30pm and we didn't start the delivery in the new building before 6:15pm. The building was very accommodating so that turned out okay. As for the movers, they were extremely competent, efficient, friendly and professional. I would 100% recommend them as they did a great job! Almost nothing was damaged (only one water dispenser). They went above and beyond and I am very satisfied of the service that was provided. So all and all a mixed experience -- if it wasn't for the forceful negotiation the day of the move, I would have given them a 10/10."

"Peter and his 3-man crew did a great job handling and moving our furniture items. I've been through a recent move and have had furniture pieces significantly damaged, and in this case I am happy to say that Peter and his crew did not damage the transported pieces. However, I think the crew could have benefitted from stronger coordination and project management on the move day. Maybe a coordinator was absent (as I've had 4-person crews do my moves before and we only 3 for this job), but the process of loading the truck, handling signatures and administration items, and ensuring I had a great experience seemed lacking focus and attention detail, and was disorganized. I have been invited onto trucks before and given a walk-through of the truck to see all my items on the truck before signing off on the move-plan. In this case, the truck wasn't organized properly so that a walk through could could be conducted (a person could only look at it from the filled trunk). Conducting an initial walk through and having an eye for details on how the items on the pickup list would go into the truck, and order for doing so, may have helped out. In this case, felt like the initial walk through was rushed and the translation of items in the rooms going into the truck wasn't made. Next, it appeared like the movers did not have an inventory list when they arrived, as if they assumed everything on the move list was what they were looking at in the apartment. Maybe no one sent the crew the move list with detailed line items that I added on UNpakt? Next, there was no bill of lading or inventory to sign off on after they filled the truck. I had to blindly sign this and trust everything was in the truck because I couldn't walk onto it... After feeling like I was rushed to follow them out of the apartment to street level and sign off on pickup stage, I noticed they did not conduct a fully complete walk through of the empty unit, and they had left a utility dresser/drawer set that was on my move plan in one of the closets -- an oversight in missing one of the closets. By the time this was noticed, they had already departed to the next destination. Feeling like it would be too much of a hassle to have them turn around in manhattan traffic after 30 minutes of departure, I had to dispose of the drawer unit myself. I was most upset that there was an oversight on this item and also not a bill of lading. Lastly, there was no bill of lading / inventory of items after dropping off at the new apartment. This was a completely blind faith move and signatures on a mobile device that didn't have any terms or conditions or inventory listed. I did not end with a bill of lading/inventory. The movers also had struggles estimation the boxes, at one point mentioning close to 90 when there were only ~50 total that I had counted ahead of time. I just felt like I needed to be the project coordinator and move manager on this date, which created stress for me and my partner that I didn't have with other movers. All-in-all, probably lost about $400-500 of furniture value in the move, which was mostly due to managerial/coordination oversight and lack of detail. The movers themselves executed the move well and handled the furniture well. I give them kudos or rotating and moving some heavy pieces up a flight of stairs and into tight spaces as well, which I appreciated and tipped them for such on a humid and on-and-off rainy day. But still not happy about the dresser left behind that was paid for in our move plan on Unpakt."
