Culture

Orlando is most well-known for the influence of its theme parks, but that’s not all it has to offer. Go swimming with the dolphins, work up an appetite cruising around on a paddleboard at Wekiva Island, or get out for a road trip and tour the Everglades. Transportation

It is possible to get around Orlando without a car, but the city is still geared towards driving. The LYNX system offers busses for commuters but they stop running quite early in some areas - so be prepared to request a rideshare, ride your bike, or find another way home. Many will ride their bicycles around the city but, in the heat of the summer, that can mean arriving at your destination more than a little sweaty.

Surprisingly, the cost of living in Orlando is just about on par with national average. You can rent for an average cost of $1,040, which is a little higher than the rest of Florida, but home prices are about 7% lower at $172,100. Living in Orlando doesn’t have to mean you’re surrounded by tourists and city buzz. The Rose Isle neighborhood is an attractive option for many families looking for an urban feel, as it is home to a variety of restaurants, bars, shops, and excellent schools. Living Uptown attracts young professionals who mostly rent their homes. This area has lots of nightlife, bars, and restaurants in a decidedly urban landscape.
